SATURDAY - GIRLS

Under 13 Panthers were up against CCC at home. Evenly matched in the first 20 minutes before the Panthers started to take control. Orna pulled off some fantastic saves with one save in particular at point blank range keeping the Panthers in it. The defence led by Avani and Ekham looked solid. The 2nd half saw the Panthers starting how they finished the first half keeping the pressure on CCC. This pressure was too hot to handle as the Panthers were awarded a free kick outside of the penalty box. Up stepped Rose who scored one of the best free kicks of the season. CCC equalised immediately after from the restart. Notable performances from Ramneek and Nimrut who continue to impress as strikers. Final score 1-1 which was probably worthy of a great effort by both teams.

Under 11 Panthers travelled to Holyfield Girls in Birmingham missing 5 players. The girls got off to a good start creating numerous chances in the first half leading to 2 goals in that half. The first goal came from a run from Sheena all the way from defence beating a few players along the way with the ball eventually landing in front of Tino to find the first goal of the game from outside the box. The second goal came from a corner which had been won by Avani. The corner was driven low and hard which found Faith in the middle of the box to guide the ball into the net. The scoring was then finished off in the second half with a powerful shot past the goalie from Suvreet. The girls showed moments of brilliance especially when playing out from goal kicks which had the opposition struggling to compete.

The Under 8 Panthers played a great game against CCC girls. Despite the result, there was a positive team performance and some fantastic play in parts of the match. Siya scored two wonderful second half goals, Tanaya continued to be a strong force in defence and Mihar made some great attacking runs. Jasmine and Hargun battled hard and Abigail made some fantastic saves in goal. We are proud of the progress that this young team is making and continue to build on performances moving forward.

At the other end Tobias led the high press and scored the 1st goal from his own hard work. This then set the tone for the rest of the game with the whole team smothering their opponents and winning the ball back at will. The game became a little one-sided and the final goals tally saw Gian grab a poacher’s hat trick (3) and further goals from Tobias, Ali, Joban & Cameron. Uday & Jude were just as important to the team with their hard work on the flanks & working back. Great footwork and passing was prominent and great to see. As we were heading for a clean sheet, a bit of confusion amongst the boys lead to the opposition gaining a goal. The Lions showed their dominance getting in front of goal with multiple chances but couldn't find the net. Sahib broke the stalemate with a well placed shot. Leek Wotton countered, catching the Lions off guard. The Lions regrouped and came back fighting. Supported by Fakhir, Ksawery and Manroop the Lions created opportunities with a series of link up plays. Sahib came off feeling unwell but not before getting his hat trick. A great performance, where the boys had to match the physicality of the opposition and also the skill level. The whole squad played their part when called upon, PotM went to Rajan for a dynamic performance in midfield and then defence, but it could have gone to a number of players, for their tireless work rate, effort and skill.

Rivan and Arveer amazed the spectators with their unbelievable last ditch blocks to deny almost certain goals for Warwick. The Racing Club keeper was in good form himself, denying the Tigers time and again, but that wasn’t to stop Ollie who delivered the most beautiful goal of the day, from deep in the right corner. A disappointing 1st half brought an honest half time exchange with the coach laying out clear expectations for the 2nd period. The boys reacted with pride and gave the league leaders a good contest in the 2nd half, competing all over the pitch with substitutes Daniel and Prabhvir both impressive throughout. The 2nd half was tied with a goal apiece, Harman S taking advantage of a goalkeeping mistake to grab GNP’s only goal, but Enoch could have scored what would have been a splendid goal from wing back, after overlapping Harman S and cutting inside before shooting at the keeper. PotM: Prabhvir for an aggressive CDM display off the bench.
