Mankirat & Harrison both hit SIX in big victories for U13 Panthers & U10 Tigers!

SATURDAY - GIRLS

The Panthers Under 8 team put on a spirited display today, showcasing excellent teamwork and determination from start to finish. Lilly was strong in defence, consistently making key tackles, while Hargun impressed with her dribbling skills, expertly advancing the ball up field. Mihar came close to scoring, showing great tenacity in attack, and Jasika contributed with a solid all-around performance. Siya was named 'Player of the Match' by the opposing coach. She was relentless in her challenges and delivered an exceptional performance in goal, displaying both courage and composure. The girls worked tirelessly to press the opposition and were quick to attempt winning back possession. Despite the result, the team showed great promise for the future.

Under 11 Panthers - no update

Under 13 Panthers hosted Redditch Borough Lionesses. A tense 1st half with the Panthers 2-0 up through Mankirat’s goals before the opposition pulled one back. A half time team talk then spurred the Panthers into action. Mankirat scored an absolutely brilliant free kick which was the first of her four 2nd half goals, finishing up on 6 goals! There were some great assists by Anaya, Hannah, Lizzie and Ekham. Jeevani who always tries so hard, managed to grab a goal through sheer persistence. Rose deserves a special mention for staying alert and playing so well in between the sticks. Another comprehensive win with the final score finishing 8-2. The Panthers stepped up when required and are building some serious momentum at the top of the league.

Under 14 Panthers had a home game against Coventrians. It was game which the girls should have won but ended up losing 2-3 due to a couple of defensive mistakes. The Panthers did have their chances, Mekenna was on the scoresheet again and Saffron hit a ferocious free kick from just outside the area, beating the keeper and finding the roof of the net . Panthers also had a goal ruled out for a soft handball decision. The opposition had a lively forward who spearheaded their attack and kept the GNP defence on their toes. The girls will continue to learn and on another day could have won by several goals.

SATURDAY - BOYS

The Under 9 Lions (pictured) showcased an exceptional performance in their away match against Balsall Hornets, securing victory. The Lions dominated the first half with impressive goals from Fakhir, Nikhil and Veer, putting the team in a commanding lead by half time. Veer struck again in the 2nd half, delivering a stunning goal from near the corner flag ricocheting off the far post to seal the win. The defensive duo of Giyaan and Arjun were instrumental in keeping a clean sheet, providing solid support for goalkeeper Sehaj. The team's outstanding teamwork and determination were on full display, making it a memorable game for the Lions.

Under 9 Jaguars played against Firefighters - they started off well and were awarded with a goal from an indirect free kick which was converted by Agam after being set up by Angad. Just before the half, the opposition scored from a corner after a lapse of concentration. 2nd half Firefighter built some momentum and were rewarded with an unfortunate own goal from Anshveer from their dangerous cross. The boys then switched gears with Raylan grabbing an equaliser after the goalie pushed Angad's shot away and then Raylan also got the winner following some great play between our forwards and midfielders. Player of the match went to Angad for his three assists today and some great display in defence and on the attack.

Under 9 Pumas faced off against Wellesbourne Wanderers and had a slow start, quickly falling behind by a couple of goals. The 2nd half began in a similar fashion, with another goal conceded. However, Harvey soon got the Pumas on the scoresheet, and Arveer kept them in the game with a fantastic penalty save that prevented the opposition from extending their lead. This sparked a comeback, and a change in formation saw the team play some excellent attacking football, transitioning smoothly from defence to attack. Sunny scored, and Ajeet followed up to equalise. The Pumas came close to a late winner but were denied by the opposition's goalkeeper. Proud of the boys for staying resilient and focused while chasing the game. POTM to Zak, who created a solid partnership at the back with Yash in the 2nd half.

GNP Under 8 Tigers were up against Bannerbrook Ballers and ended as comfortable victors. The opponents were a relatively new outfit and gave it their best shot. The Tigers were on top from the first whistle with an early goal from Arjun then a brace apiece from both Gurshaan and Kurren to give GNP a comfortable lead at half time. The 2nd half wasn’t much different with GNP asserting their dominance with further goals from Ajaib (x2) and both Gurshaan and Kurren completely their hattricks. The Tigers defence was rarely tested in a relatively straightforward game for the boys.

Shaky start for the Under 8 Lions who were playing home against Southam United, first 10mins GNP were under pressure conceding 2 goals, but stepped up in the quarter to play some aggressive football pulling the score back to make it even. 2nd half continued with GNP on the ascendency, the Lions had Southam united on the back foot, adding a further 4 goals, however some lapses in concentration allowed Southam back in. The boys played as a unit, resulting in a positive result and hat trick for Leo, 2 goals for Aaron and 1 from Arthur. Sam, Harvey and Harnam delivered a strong performance too, holding the back line and providing some amazing assists to keep GNP Lions on top, Balraj in goal had another strong performance, making some crucial saves in what proved a close game.

Under 8 Jaguars played Ambleside on Saturday morning. Ambleside were clear in the lead after the first half with goals flying in from all angles. The Jaguars starting off very slowly with Mithun scoring the only goal of the first half. For the 2nd week running the Jaguars must have had their halftime Weetabix and came out in the 2nd half like prime Brazil! 2 goals from Bobby, and a remarkable 4 goals from Isaac brought the scoreline back to respectability. This young bunch haven't been playing for long, but what they have shown is their heads will not drop, they will not turn on each other, and they will fight as a team to the final whistle. It wasn't a win regarding the scoreline, but it was an astounding victory for heart and courage - well done the Under 8 Jaguars!!

Under 8 Pumas played away against Coundon Court. Playing with a full squad, we had a great start to the match with some great passing, running, and strength on the ball, which resulted in a half time lead. Unfortunately two of our strongest defenders were involved in a clash which meant we had to make some unforeseen changes, leading to the opposition scoring a flurry of goals in a very short period after the break. Special mentions for Louie getting on the scoresheet again, and Jeevan scoring a worldie from the halfway line! Overall, we’re really proud of all of the boys and this game showed how far they’ve come since last season.

Under 7 Tigers played away to Exhall Sky Blues this week. The boys got off to a cracking start creating many chances with goals from Aron (2), Joban (1) and Rhys (1). Defensively Rayan was great, supporting were Joban and Aron, dropping back to make key interceptions. Both Taran and Sahib continue to make good contributions whether that be in goal or upfront. Despite dominating most of the match, the Exhall Sky Blues fought back and GNP conceded a few goals in quick succession to go behind. However, the Under 7 Tigers determination, work ethic and overall performance was yet again impressive. Well done boys!

The Under 7 Lions were up against Coventry Phoenix Blitz. The first quarter saw Blitz score a few goals, the Lions did well to keep their heads up and pick themselves up to try get back into the match. The 2nd half saw great energy from Jagraaj, dominating the left wing, and the boys defended so well to keep a second half clean sheet. GNP created chance after chance, with 6 shots on target in a matter of minutes, but it was one of those matches where the ball just didn’t seem to find the back of the net. Great spirit shown once again by this fledgling team!

Under 12 Tigers - no update

SUNDAY - BOYS

Under 9 Tigers were determined to bounce back after their Trophy Event exit last week. They were back to their best with plenty of free flowing passing by Arveer in the middle which created opportunities for the likes of Joban, Veer and Rajan to score. Josiah scored a fabulous hat-trick with 2 of the goals created by his own powerful runs. Salman and Rivan commanded the defense well and also played well in attacking positions later on in the game. Player of the Match went to Jacob for his outstanding saves and those almighty kicks, especially considering he’s missed the last couple of weeks.

Under 10 Tigers played against Lillington Jnr Magpies at home. Tigers played on the front foot and created some chances early on, after 10mins of chances, the deadlock was finally broken by Harrison, tapping in from a corner. Harrison quickly added two more with great finishes. Jai added a 4th with a quick breakaway. In the 2nd half, the away side clawed one back after an unfortunate OG. Harrison added 3 more, the highlight being some neat football between Nathaniel and Dharam, who then sent Harrison away on the right to finish smartly in the far corner. PotM to Harrison for his link up play up top and double hat trick!

Under 11 Tigers were in action in the league at home to Firefighters. Tigers picked up from last week's performance, dominating again and creating chance after chance, but finishing let the team down with all the shots going straight to the keeper. Very much against the run of play Firefighters scored. But this didn’t deter the tigers who piled on the pressure and were rewarded with a shot which came off the defender for an own goal. Tigers then went up - a well taken goal from Shaan to end the 1st half in front. 2nd half much more of the same - Tigers applied pressure resulting in a couple goals for Majid and one for Reece. Comfortable in the end. Well done to all the boys for a great performance.

Under 11 Lions were up against Racing Club Warwick Gold. The Lions started well and piled on the pressure early on. This resulted in a goal after an indirect free kick and great strike from Sehaj. The Lions went on to miss a number of chances to extend the lead and Warwick got back in the game and scored a couple of goals before half time. The 2nd half was pretty even. Racing Club scored a further goal before the Lions got a 2nd goal through Kyle and reduced the deficit to one. The Lions piled on the pressure but could not find the equaliser. All in all a good performance and unlucky not to get something out of the game. Player of the match was Evan for a solid display in defence and setting up a number of attacks from the back.

Under 11 Pumas - no update

Under 12 Pumas visited Coundon Cockerels and got off to a great start, taking an early lead through Nathan Ngu. It proved a real end-to-end first half with Coundon hitting back with 3 to go into the half time break 3-1 up. A slow start by the Pumas in the 2nd half saw Coundon add a 4th. The Pumas managed to pick themselves up, Nathan Ngu picked the ball up deep in his own half, ran the entire length of the pitch, using his pace and power, shrugging off Coundon challenges to get his 2nd of the game, and 13th goal of the season. Pumas then had what looked a good goal disallowed by the linesman. A couple of goalmouth scrambles followed but Pumas couldn’t get the 3rd they deserved. A game the Pumas should not have lost and a performance they should be proud of.

Under 13 Tigers visited Racing Club Warwick Green at their 4G, expecting a tough game against Div C high-fliers. So it proved. Despite GNP controlling the opening exchanges, RCW's first attack led to the flame haired striker cutting in on his left and lethally finishing past Wiktor. A 2nd followed from a perfectly flighted free kick which went in off the crossbar as Warwick took control. They then scored a killer 3rd on half time after a near post corner. Strong words for the boys at half time and they responded well, asserting more control and aggression, led by an imperious display by Iklil at centre back. Oscar also performed well from midfield for the 3rd game in a row. Several attacking chances were created down both flanks but none could be converted unfortunately.

Under 13 Lions hosted Hartshill Sports Hurricanes and got a great start with PotM Ryan in the right place to volley home a perfect corner from Ayomide. After that the Lions performance showed a lack of football intelligence as Hartshill equalised and then took a 3-1 lead into half time. A combination of lazy challenges, foul throws and regularly falling for the visitors offside trap caused significant frustration on the sidelines. More Hartshill goals followed early 2nd half with everything they hit, seemingly finding the net! The boys finally got a grip on the game for the final 20 mins. Jasraj scored the goal of the game with a gorgeous low first time strike from Ayomide's clever cutback, before Mohamed earned a deserved goal following good work from Arjun and Reon and a composed finish. Final score 3-7.
