TUESDAY - BOYS
The Under 16s boys came into the midweek league fixture vs Central Ajax having not played on the opening Sunday due to a postponement. The boys came meaning business and were 2-0 up after 17 mins and finished the half 4-0 up with a brace each from Archie and Zaid. Although the opposition scored the only goal of the 2nd half, on another day this scoreline could have been doubled if it wasn't for the keeper making some great saves and GNP striking the post a few times.
SATURDAY - GIRLS
GNP Under 10 Panthers visited Coundon Court Black and delivered another superb performance & result. 1st half saw some great skills and strategic play by the girls. Aish and Lily combined to go close against a stubborn defence. A great save by Poppy at the other end was soon followed by a goal from Khloe after determined work from Anya. 2nd half saw Lily take over in goal and a belting second goal from Khloe coming from superb team play. A swift goal from Roop was followed by her 2nd! A slick and skilful team build up culminated with Khloe passing to Jodh to score an emphatic 5th goal! Well done Panthers!
Under 13 Panthers played their first home match against Kingshurst Pavilions in superb form. Mankirat bagged 2 goals by the end of the first half, giving them a positive start. Early in the 2nd half the opposition threatened a fightback, scoring their first goal. But then the Panthers really pounced and the goals just kept coming. Lizzie made her debut performance memorable by scoring 2 goals. Hannah and Anayah notched a goal each, but Mankirat scored a staggering 5 in total! An own goal from the opposition resulted in a final scoreline of 10-2 to the Panthers, a fantastic and well deserved win!
Under 14 panthers visited Stratford Town Girls. The girls had several chances in the 1st half but went in at 0-0. A slow start to the 2nd half saw the hosts shoot from distance which gave Charu in goal no chance and from nowhere the girls found themselves 1-0 down. This sparked the Panthers back into life fighting hard for every ball and after being denied on several attacks found themselves back on level terms. A through-ball from midfield found Mekenna who beat the last defender before finding the bottom corner. Stratford then went 2-1 up after a cross hit the defender which wrong footed Charu and trickled into the bottom corner. With 2 minutes to go, Mekenna beat the offside trap again and hit a stinging shot that the keeper could only help into the net. A promising 2-2 draw against a team who played a league higher last season.
Under 11 Panthers - no submission
Under 8 Panthers second league game of the season marked our first match on the road, where we faced a well-organized Sutton Coldfield Town Juniors. Despite the loss, the girls showed tremendous effort and delivered some outstanding performances. Abigail, Siya, Jasika, Lily, and Mihar all played with great commitment and truly enjoyed the game. We're proud of the team’s spirit and are excited as we look ahead to our upcoming matches.
SATURDAY - BOYS
Under 9 Jaguars hosted Khalsa FC. 1st half started off with Jaguars on the front foot with with Agam deservedly opening the scoring and Angad scoring shortly after. The opposition got one back before Angad added his 2nd. Khalsa fought back and earned a penalty which was converted. They scored another just before the break to go in level. Jaguars came out aggressively after the break and scored quickly with Jake sliding a nice through ball to Agam which he put away. Agam completed his hat trick and then Jake completed a great move with his first goal. Player of the Match was awarded to Dhanveer for stopping some great shots to keep Jaguars in the game at times.
This was the first game of the season for the Under 9 Pumas, up against Sky Blues Hawks. Sunny opened the scoring with a great strike; the Pumas continued to attack with only the bar and keeper preventing GNP from extending their lead. 2nd half the Pumas broke through the defence with Kandes and Musa getting on the scoresheet, and a late penalty from Yash topped off a fantastic team performance. New boy Zak was PotM for a strong debut display. Great team effort and a positive start to the season.
Under 9 Lions - no submission
GNP Under 8 Lions were up against Coventry Copsewood away. Leo opened the account for GNP in the opening minutes. Arthur finished off a brilliant chance created by Sam to double the lead. Sam scored from a direct free kick as well to push further ahead. Lions were passing very efficiently across the pitch with Sam and Harvey rock solid in defence. Aaron and Harnam scored a goal each after that, topping off a dominant display by the Lions. Balraj put in a strong display with some outstanding saves in the goal but it was Sam who clinched the PotM, grabbing a goal and an assist. Consecutive victories for the team with the boys looking high on confidence.
Great performance from the Under 8 Tigers with a huge result against Mount Nod. The boys took the lead within the first minute with an excellent goal from Jibreel. Further goals were scored by Gurshaan, Arvind, Bishoy and Arjun. A big well done to Arvind for being awarded player of the match for excelling both in defence and midfield. Keep it up Tigers!
Under 8 Pumas were at home against Lillington Juniors. The boys were out of the blocks early with two great goals from defender-turned-striker Jeevan. A couple of lapses of concentration late in the game meant that we suffered a narrow loss, but overall the boys were brilliant and their progress is clear for all to see.
GNP Under 8 Jaguars hosted Rugby Borough Hawks - An entertaining game saw the Under 8 Jags edged out in a 9-goal thriller. Rugby took an early lead and the Jaguars fought back to pull level with a brace from Bobby, both assisted by Mithun. Unfortunately two quick counter attacks restored Rugby's lead come half time. 2nd half the fight back commenced with Theo grabbing a brace of his own to pull GNP level again. Theo's first goal came from another Mithun assist and the second following a dinky run by Oryn, a defence splitting pass to Shaan who's shot was stopped on the line, Theo tapping in the rebound. Jaguars always looked a threat in the 2nd half. Unfortunately a late Rugby counter attack saw the ball trickle over the line to clinch the result for the visitors. A great game to watch nevertheless.
A massive well done to the Under 7 Lions, playing just their 2nd game, this time away to Rugby Borough Tigers. Great effort, with amazing energy from them all; a genuine "Never Say Die" attitude from each individual player. A good boost of confidence for the boys with new additions to the squad on their way this week.
In their 2nd evaluation game, the Under 7 Tigers faced a well-organised and disciplined Rugby Borough Pumas team at home. Although they fell behind early, the boys gradually regained their focus. Aron scored just before half-time, and Taran kicked off the 2nd half with a goal of his own. The team demonstrated admirable skill and resilience throughout the match. Tobias and Aron each contributed several great efforts on goal. Rayan and Sahib, making his debut outfield appearance, provided valuable support on the wings. Rhys delivered a strong performance in goal with several crucial saves, while Joban’s running and defensive efforts were also commendable. The boys battled hard and there were plenty of positives to take into their next game in spite of the final score.
SUNDAY - BOYS
Under 9 Tigers were away to Christ the King Green. Tigers produced goals from all over the pitch today, including Arveer, Joban, Eesa, Rivan and a brilliant hat-trick by Veer. The defence was solid with Rivan and Salman looking more solid each game. Jacob stayed alert in goal pulling off saves when he needed to. Player of the Match however went to Josiah who had 3 assists and bagged 2 goals. He was relentless up and down the right wing. Another great day for the Tigers!
Under 10 Tigers played at home against Dunlop Juniors. The Tigers created some good chances in the first half. Some smart saves from the keeper kept them at bay. Defensively, the Tigers were solid and hardly let the away side have a clear shot on goal. 2nd half, more chances came and went. Harrison and Akaalvir both hitting the post in quick succession and again some good saves from the away GK. Deep into the game the Tigers were caught on the counter, a dubious penalty was awarded, and the Tigers found themselves behind. Pushing for an equaliser, they were caught out again. PotM went to Anokh, solid performance in defence, shutting down several potentially dangerous attacks. The boys will pick themselves up for the first trophy event game next week.
Under 11 Lions were up against Cov Jag in an evenly contested 2nd trophy event game. GNP took the lead through Kyle and were creating some good chances. Cov Jag got back into the game and equalised before taking the lead with the last kick of the first half. GNP started off the 2nd half well, before getting caught with another counter attack goal and found themselves two goals down. GNP never gave up and got what they deserved with their 2nd goal, scored by Athrv. Further GNP pressure led to Aaron equalising 3-3. GNP then went on to have a number of good chances, but couldn’t find the winner. A cracking performance all around and a shame not to get the win. Man of the match went to recent signing Tayo, pulling off a number of good saves throughout the match.
GNP Under 11 Pumas hosted Bedworth Utd Mavericks in a match packed with goals and end to end excitement. Pumas took the lead with a pass from Jaiden falling nicely through to Maaven which he slotted past the keeper. Bedworth turned the game with two goals taking the lead going into half time. 2nd half Bedworth continued to press and added a third. Lekan followed through with a 2nd and 3rd for the Pumas, both great individual goals. Bedworth continued to push forward with a further 3 goals before the Pumas clawed 2 more back, falling just short. Special mention to the Pumas GK Sam, who made some amazing saves during the game.
GNP Under 11 Tigers were at home in the trophy event against Rugby Borough Jaguars. Game started off quite even but then an impressive Rugby Borough started to dominate the match. The pressure showed eventually and Rugby broke the deadlock before increasing their lead further. 2nd half GNP tried to get back into the game but Rugby were just too strong and extended the lead further. Well done to all the boys who stuck to their task and battled away until the end!
Under 12s Pumas entertained Coventrians Phoenix. Not the best Pumas performance, struggling throughout the game with Coventrians camping out in the Pumas half. Keeper Pravir Walia pulled off a couple of outstanding saves in the first half to keep it goalless. But Pumas never got going again in the 2nd with Coventrians taking the lead. Armaan Vraitch struck from distance to pull the Pumas level and then had a goal disallowed due to a foul on the defender. Coventrians took a deserved lead following a corner driven in low and neatly finished & a defensive mix up resulted in their 3rd before Nathan Ngu scored a late consolation with the last kick of the game. Pumas going down to a 3-2 defeat.
Under 13 Tigers visited new opponents Coventry Ajax for their season opener and it proved to be a well fought battle between two good sides. Missing a key player through suspension, GNP reorganised their back line but found themselves exposed by the rapid Ajax right winger several times, who gave them the early lead. Oscar then fed a searching through ball diagonally into the path of the energetic Arjun who finished brilliantly first time on the volley for the equaliser. This led to a period of intense GNP high pressing which gave them control of the game into half time. 2nd half started badly with the talented Ajax no 7 bursting through for the lead despite Wiktor's best efforts to rush out to him. And then Ajax secured the win 10 mins from the end with a slick move down the right resulting in a tap in for the striker. Good effort from the boys but some communication learns to take into next week.
Under 13 Lions hosted Southam Utd at Finham Park and an even 1st half closed out all square after Mohamed's goal had equalised an unfortunate long range bounce over the GNP keeper's head. Ryan and Dom provided a secure centre back pairing to give us a good platform to play from. The 2nd half was backs to the wall with the powerful Southam no 19 causing trouble for the Lions throughout, but the boys held out well until the final 10 mins when Southam eventually took the lead and then ran away with the game as GNP heads dropped. Ryan was awarded PotM for his leadership and consistency at the back and was pushed hard by an energetic, high effort display from Mohamed on the right wing.
Under 14s - no submission
Under 16s started the home game with Attleborough well but somehow ended being 3-1 down. The boys came out in the 2nd half determined to turn things around and scored 2 early goals to turn the game around and eventually win 5-3 to maintain their 100% start.
