Under 8 Tigers & Lions continue to impress in Evaluation period

Saturday saw a full program with the non-competitive girls age groups in Autumn Cup action and Under 7s and Under 8s boys continuing their league evaluation period. Sadly the Sunday programme was decimated by rain, with only 2 matches escaping postponement.

SATURDAY - GIRLS

Under 13 Panthers were away to Coventry Godiva in league action. The Panthers broke the early deadlock with Rose's free kick palmed away allowing Hannah to knock home the rebound. The Panthers kept up the pressure with Anayah having a long range effort saved, only for Mankirat to follow up for the 2nd goal. Some great defensive work by Avani and Ekham kept Godiva at bay. Anayah drove down the wing and crossed to Jeevani to score (3-0) before half time. 2nd half sa,w Godiva provide their own pressure but the Panthers defence held their own. The 4th GNP goal was an amazing solo effort by Rose who attempted a long range shot which hit the crossbar but she wasnt finished, following up inside the box to hit home a loose ball. Godiva notched a consolation goal with 10 minutes left before threatening another when a penalty was awarded. However, Orna was up to the job making a great save & continuing her super form between the sticks. All-in-all a great game for the Panthers who continue their fab start to their season.

GNP Under 10 Panthers - Autumn Cup - Game 1 V SJB. A fantastic game which the Panthers dominated throughout. In the 1st half the girls were relentless in attack. A powerful corner sent by Khloe saw Elizabeth knock in a great goal, soon followed by a goal from Khloe. A great save by Poppy was followed by another goal from Elizabeth assisted by Khloe. Elizabeth's hat trick was secured with a beautiful pass from Roop! A thunderbolt from Lily cannoned into the post, but Aish was alert to add another goal! 2nd half saw more of the same with more goals from Anya, Elizabeth and Aish, who topped things off with a smooth solo run & finish.
Game 2 vs MAYPOLE. A tough, very physical match at times. A game with lots of spirit, determination and grit from the Panthers. No subs meant the girls had to work really hard and it probably swayed the game in favour of Maypole, who scored one in the first half before adding 2 more goals after the break in the midst of some end to end action. Many superb saves from both Anya & then Lily kept this score much lower. A great Cup battle from every single player.

Under 11 Panthers also hosted their Autumn Cup round robin, winning 1 and drawing 1 of their 2 group games against Crusaders Girls & Stockton Wildcats respectively. Unfortunately remaining unbeaten was not quite enough with Stockton topping the group thanks to their slightly more emphatic win over Crusaders. Nevertheless a great effort girls!

Under 8 Panthers - This week, the Panthers team (pictured) hit the road again for two cup matches against Boldmere Falcons and Coventry Sphinx. Despite the defeat, the players displayed excellent effort and team spirit throughout. Mihar netted a brilliant goal against Sphinx, while Siya and Abigail both had strong shots on target. Lily's energy and effort were outstanding, and Tanaya put on a determined performance in goal. Jasika showcased some impressive dribbling skills. After the games, we were warmly welcomed into the clubhouse and enjoyed lunch together, marking it a lovely morning overall.

Under 14 Panthers had their first home game of the season against Atherstone Rangers. A game full of chances resulted in a 2-6 defeat against a strong side who took their chances. Putting the scoreline aside, there are promising signs for the Panthers who are creating numerous chances and are starting to gel. The Panthers gave a debut to new recruit Lois, who looked solid at the back but another strong performance by Dhianne made her player of the match.

SATURDAY - BOYS

Under 8 Tigers @ Hilmorton Dragons. The Tigers roared to a dominant performance against Hillmorton. From the opening whistle, they controlled the game and showcased their impressive teamwork and control of the game. Kurren opened the scoring with 2 early goals then Neal and a brace from Gurshaan gave Tigers a comfortable lead at HT. 2nd half, the Tigers kept the pressure on with a flurry of goals, Jibreel scoring a quality brace that led him to the PotM award. Gurshaan and Kurren added several more and Ajaib diverted one in one from a corner. The Tigers defensive display was impressive with one slight lapse in concentration leading to the opposition's only goal. They will be hoping to continue their positive streak in their next match.

Under 8 Lions hosted Coventrians in their third game of the season. Lions pressed the opponents very effectively resulting in 2 own goals by Coventrians. Arthur scored another goal before half time with Lions having a healthy lead at the break. The opponents struck back in the second half with couple of goals. But the moment of the match the saw Balraj set up Leo down the right; he drove to the byline put in perfect cross for Aaron to arrive in the box and beat the keeper. Overall a lively game and Lions continue their really positive start to the season.

Under 8 Pumas played at home against Panjab Athletic. The boys had a great first half and went into the break with a lead. Some lapses of concentration meant we were caught on the counter-attack and ended up with a narrow loss, but lots of positives to take into the season. Louie scored three goals (including one directly from the goal kick), and Kishan scored his first goal for the club.

Under 8 Jaguars played at home against Vision Academy Warriors in their 3rd game of the season. The scale of the task was highlighted by the fact that Vision appear to be in competely the wrong tier for evaluation (boasting a goal difference of +50 from their previous 2 games!). The first few goals were scored by the opposition until Jaguars found their feet via some positive attacking play from Oryn , Bobby & Isaac but couldn’t get the ball over the line. Theo was steadfast in defence & Seva pulled off some great saves . By the 2nd half GNP were making the opposing side work for every goal & came close to scoring a few times themselves. A change of formation saw Shaan pull off some great saves & some great defending by Stanley, Varun & PotM Isaac kept the score down, with Oryn scoring a brilliant goal to get 1 back against a top level team. The scoreline ended heavily in favour of Vision but Jaguars can be proud of their all-round performance & determination today!

Under 9 Jaguars played away against Kineton Juniors, Jaguars started off on the front foot and after numerous attempts, Agam slotted the first goal in after an cross from Raylan. The boys were unlucky not to get a second as Agam hit the crossbar and Anshveer had some great shots saved by their keeper. 2nd half GNP were more clinical, with Raylan getting two goals. Agam was able to finish the game off with some great play from the corner with Angad. Great performance from the boys. The player of the match was given to Agam for his two assists and two goals!

After a heavy defeat against Kenilworth Wardens last week the Under 9 Lions boys were nervous hosting them at their place. Wardens got off to an early lead, but the boys kept their heads up and got stuck in. Sehaj kept his line clear with a collective effort from Veer, Manroop, Nikhil, Giyaan and Arjun held off Kenilworth's advances keeping the score line unchanged. With a few changes after half time the boys came out determined. Fakhir played a pivotal role as centre mid, setting up opportunities for Sahib and Ksawery. The boys just couldn't get the ball into the net!

Under 7 Tigers played at home against Leamington Brakes this week. Rayan made it difficult for the opposition with his incredible defensive play. Tobias and Rhys made some excellent saves in goal and their contribution alongside Joban, Taran and Sahib were outstanding on the wings. Tobias battled hard and got GNP on the score sheet with an excellent strike from outside the box. Our prolific goalscorer Aron got his hat-trick with one strike from the half way line. Overall, a very impressive performance. Well done boys!

Under 7 Lions played away to Firefighters jr. Very even first 10 mins - great defending by Elliott, who for the whole game, made it tough for the Home team. Full Debuts - for Theo in goals - amazing saves to try keep the Lions in the Game - And Luca played his first match ever, so a big welcome to both boys! Non stop running from Dhillan, Kiaan, Dev and Jagraaj. As always amazing attitude from the boys.

SUNDAY - BOYS

Under 13 Lions visited Coventrians Phoenix on a wet miserable morning. The boys dominated the opening half but went a goal down to a lightning counter attack down the right. The boys responded brilliantly, Aaron teeing up Filip to smash the ball in from the edge of the box. Aahil repeated the trick when the defence only cleared to the 18 yd line, giving the keeper no chance. The boys took a deserved 3-1 lead into half time when Jasraj was fouled and stepped up to curl a free kick in from 20 yds. Coventrians hit back early 2nd half with two carbon copy goals from their right wing threat again and it looked grim. However GNP regained a foothold for the final 15 mins and the game could have gone either way, eventually finishing 3-3 for the Lions first point of the season. Another improved display from the new look team - well done lads!

Under 9 Tigers were up against Alvis Eagles in their first Trophy Event match. The Tigers opened up the scoring with Eesa striking early doors. Rajan followed up with another. Some brilliant passing all over the pitch saw the Tigers keeping the pressure on. A superb assist from Josiah saw Veer scoring. Second half saw more of the same with some great tackling by Salman, Arveer and Rivan. Josiah then went on a fantastic run to slot another in. Jacob, despite the conditions never missed a catch. Alvis managed to grab one back before an assist by Veer saw Arveer clinically finish it off for another goal. Well done to Salman who got Player of the Match for his overall performance in tackling, passing and shots on goal.

All other Sunday fixtures postponed!
